At Avanzare Group, we are proud to share that our company has been recognized as one of the leading organizations in La Rioja within the framework of the Horizon Europe Programme for the period 2021–2024. This acknowledgment is part of the provisional results recently published by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) on the participation of Spanish entities in this European research and innovation programme.
Horizon Europe is the European Union’s flagship programme for promoting R&D&i, with a total budget of nearly €100 billion for the 2021–2027 period. During these first four years (2021–2024), Spanish organizations have secured over €4.5 billion in grants for innovative projects and have taken part in thousands of high-impact research activities.
Key data on participation in the Horizon Europe Programme.
Between 2021 and 2024, La Rioja’s participation in Horizon Europe resulted in €16.8 million awarded to 24 organizations, 14 of which are companies, with 79% being SMEs. These entities took part in 45 R&D&i activities, 4 of which were coordinated by organizations from the region.
In this context, Avanzare Innovación Tecnológica, S.L. has stood out for its contributions, coordinating 2 of these activities (the THERMOFIRE and REPOXYBLE projects) and participating in 7 in total, positioning itself as one of the most active and significant organizations in the region.
The engine of our success: The R&D team.
One of the key pillars of this achievement is the outstanding work of the entire R&D team at Avanzare, led by Dr. Elvira Villaro Ábalos, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the group. Her vision has been instrumental in strengthening our presence in high-level European projects. Thanks to her leadership, our team has not only participated actively but has also led several strategic initiatives within Horizon Europe. This recognition reflects the commitment and excellence of the entire team in developing advanced solutions.

Participation in Horizon Europe allows us to collaborate with international partners, access European funding for strategic projects, and create synergies that boost the technological competitiveness of both our company and our surrounding environment.
A boost for regional and national innovation.
The impact of our participation goes beyond the quantitative results. Being actively involved in Horizon Europe means strengthening international collaboration networks, gaining access to scientific knowledge, and enhancing the visibility of La Rioja’s and Spain’s technological capabilities across Europe. Additionally, it creates new opportunities to attract skilled talent and investment, contributing to sustainable growth and the competitiveness of our region.
In short, this recognition motivates us to continue investing in collaborative research in Europe and to contribute, from La Rioja, to the strengthening of the local business ecosystem.
